Kathy has a BA in Dance from the Conservatory of Music at UMKC and is a certified Pilates Instructor with 30 years of practice and over 20 years of teaching experience. Along with dance and pilates, she was the owner and developer of two separate food businesses in KCMO: Daily Bread, a vegetarian café (1991–1996), and canihaveabite, a zero-waste organic meal prep and café (2012–2023). She began Canihaveabite as a program to help her pilates clients with food sensitivity issues. It slowly grew into cooking classes and later a brick-and-mortar business.
I began practicing pilates to help address some autoimmune issues. After all these decades of study, I still find it endlessly fascinating. There is always something new to learn and discover about this method. When I teach, I bring with me my training in Pilates, dance, aerial classes, and yoga principles. I understand movement and how the body works. I have helped countless students fully understand the principles behind the exercises. My philosophy is: ‘Your body is an amazing instrument, designed to move with ease. Don’t limit yourself to what you can’t do; rediscover your inborn potential.
